Langstudeerboete (Longer study fine) Protest
Other

The government wants to cut 1 billion Euros from higher education. With that, they are destroying the quality of research and education, and the accessibility for students. As a part of this, they want to implement a fine for anyone who takes more than 3 years to complete their bachelor. Students need to pay €2,600 per year of extra study, effectively killing student activism and associations as a whole.

On the 14th of November, univeristy students from all over the country will gather in Utrecht in order to protest this. UTwente has endorced the protest by not allowing any mandatory lectures or meetings on this day. On top of this, Proto will NOT be open the entire day, as the board will be at this protest. Compensation of travel expenses is currently being discussed, but if this is not possible, we will look into an NS group ticket for everyone who is interested. Make sure to sign up to this activity so we can email all interested people about updates regarding the travel. Sign ups will stay hidden in order to maintain privacy.
